BEAUTIFUL 1892 COIN GLASS CAKE STAND MADE BY CENTRAL GLASS CO. OF WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA WHO WAS TAKEN OVER BY U. THIS WAS MADE WITH SILVER DOLLARS ON THE TOP AND QUARTER DOLLARS ON THE STEM. WHAT I HAVE READ THIS WAS ONLY MADE BETWEEN 1875 AND 1878.
THE COINS WERE CONSIDERED COUNTERFEITS OF US COINS AND CONGRESS HAD THE MOLDS DESTROYED. REDESIGNED THE COINS PATTERN WITH SPANISH STYLE COINS RATHER THEN US COINS AFTER MOLDS DESTROYED. THIS CAKE PLATE IS 10 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND 6 3/4 INCH TALL. THE DOLLAR AND QUARTER SIZED COINS ARE DATED 1892.THERE ARE STRAW-MARKS FROM THE FACTORY ON THE GLASS, AIR BUBBLES, MINOR SCRATCHES AND SMALL PITS ON THE TOP FROM WEAR, NO BREAKS, NO CHIPS, WEAR ON BOTTOM, SOME OF THE COINS ON TOP HAVE OUTTER EDGE OVER FROSTING AGAIN FROM THE FACTORY. THE THREE ARTICLES I HAVE READ ON THIS PIECE SAY THE CAKE PLATE HAS NEVER BEEN REPRODUCED, OTHER TYPES OF COIN GLASS HAVE. ONE ARTICLE SAID YOU SHOULD HAVE IT INSURED FOR A REPLACEMENT VALUE FOR 600.
