EARLY ANTIQUE EAPG FLINT GLASS Covered Sugar Bowl Argus (AKA Thumbprint) 1860
Argus (AKA Thumbprint) Sugar Bowl. Offered is a compote made of flint glass. It is early American pattern glass (EAPG). The pattern is known as Argus, or Thumbprint. This piece is in fine condition. There are flea bites around the rim of the lid which do not show at all when the lid is in place. It has all of the characteristic straw marks, bubbles and small scratches of a piece of this vintage which is PRE CIVIL WAR.
It was introduced in 1860. It has a bell tone ring when struck. Covered pieces in this pattern are rare.
