Offered is a sugar bowl made of flint glass. It is early American pattern glass (EAPG). The pattern is known as Colonial, according to Mrs. Lee in Ruth Webb Lee's Early American Pattern Glass. AKA: Way Colonial ; York Colonial.
NOTE: Appears in an illustrated Curling, Robertson & Co. This piece is in excellent condition. I can feel small rough places along the rim and the edge of the lid but I can't see any nicks. It has all of the characteristic straw marks, bubbles and small scratches of a piece of this vintage which is PRE CIVIL WAR.
It would have been made, as described by Mrs. Lee in the 1850's. It has a bell tone ring when struck.
