Iittala Kastehelmi Cake Plate, Clear
Made of glass and decorated with beads of glass. Design by oiva toikka - one of the most renowned names in finnish glass art. Measures 12-1/4 by 12-1/4 by 3-1/2-inches. The Kastehelmi Cake Plate has a versatile design allowing it to be used in casual and formal settings. Designed by Professor Oiva Toikka. Kastehelmi - which is Finnish for "dewdrop" - evolved from a technical challenge when Toikka started using glass droplets to cover joint marks left on the surface of pressed glass pieces. The result was a popular range of glassware decorated with beads of glass that glisten dewdrops in the morning sun. Professor Oiva Toikka is one of the most renowned names in Finnish glass art. His style deviates from the streamlined aesthetic of Scandinavian design in imaginative, rich and bold ways, earning him international praise.
