René Lalique designed his "Ormeaux" plates in 1931, part of a large tableware service which included 5 sizes of plates, bowls, ice cream cups and more. This is the largest plate, 35 cm in diametre (14), large enough to be used as a serving dish, platter or charger.
It comes here in a green patina which has held remarkably well and gives it a unique aspect. It is signed under the base (photo 4). "Ormeaux" is repertoried and photographed in the large Marcilhac book , the unofficial "Lalique Bible" on page 706 of the French 2010 edition (photo 5) under reference 3046.
The weight is 4 Lbs. The condition is very good with no break or chip. There are moderate usage lines inside, as can be seen on photo 4 (the lines are exaggerated by the flash used for clarity of the signature).
