A "Bleuet" in French is a cornflower. It is spelled "Bluet" only in Canadian French.
The plate has an elaborate design and consists, apparently, of bleuet flower petals, with an outside crown repeating a fan-like motive. The similarity with cornflowers is not obvious but the plate is alluring. "Bluets Nr 4" is repertoried and photographed in the large Marcilhac book on page 710 of the 2010 French printing under reference" 3073" (photo 9). For some unknown reason, the photo displays the plate AND the bowl (which is itself repertoried elsewhere in the book in its proper place). The caption mentions that it was in Lalique's catalogue of 1937and that it became abruptly unavailable on April 28, 1939. Maybe the mould was accidentally broken, who knows? The plate (and bowl) were never made again afterwards. The signature is the classic R LALIQUE FRANCE etched in the center (photos 4 and 8). I haven't observed any flaw or defect. The item "Rene Lalique 1932 Bluets Nr 4 Plate. VG Condition" is in sale since Saturday, August 14, 2021.
