René Lalique designed his "Bluets" (or "Bleuets") plate in 1932. Only one size exists, "Nr 4". It is 8 in diametre. Why there are no Nr 1, 2 and 3 is not known, possibly because they were planned but never made. Also, the plate is practically never seen and it is among the rarest Lalique plates. Obviously few were manufactured but there does not seem to be a particular reason.

A "Bleuet" in French is a cornflower. It is spelled "Bluet" only in Canadian French.

The plate has an elaborate design and consists, apparently, of bleuet flower petals, with an outside crown repeating a fan-like motive. The similarity with cornflowers is not obvious but the plate is alluring. "Bluets Nr 4" is repertoried and photographed in the large Marcilhac book on page 710 of the 2010 French printing under reference" 3073" (photo 9). For some unknown reason, the photo displays the plate AND the bowl (which is itself repertoried elsewhere in the book in its proper place). The caption mentions that it was in Lalique's catalogue of 1937and that it became abruptly unavailable on April 28, 1939. Maybe the mould was accidentally broken, who knows? The plate (and bowl) were never made again afterwards. The signature is the classic R LALIQUE FRANCE etched in the center (photos 4 and 8). I haven't observed any flaw or defect.
