Set of Antique Imperial Candlewick Clear Crystal Plates with Beaded Border Twelve (12). The Imperial Glass Company was founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio & was in production for almost 80 years. They became one of the most successful handmade glass companies in the USA. One of its most successful lines was called Candlewick introduced in1936. The origin of this most successful pattern is said to borrow from the French Cannonball line which featured heavy glass balls around its base.
Imperial replaced the larger glass balls with smaller & more delicate ones to make it look like the Colonial style needlework edging called candle wicking. My Mother had a large collection from this pattern because she felt their clear, elegant clean lines paired so well with her heavier porcelain dinner plates. This is a set of twelve (12) 8-inch clear crystal plates that can be used for any number of uses.
They are handmade, clear crystal with a lovely, beaded ball glass border. This set of plates are in excellent antique condition. They are lovely & upbeat & sophisticated & will make a wonderful addition to your dinner table. Object: Set of 12 antique Imperial clear glass plates with beaded glass ball border Candlewick pattern.
