The Ladybug is considered a symbol of good fortune, a harbinger of good weather and a good luck omen. Rare Major Ornamental Design of a Ladybug with gold frame enhanced by a round jade gemstone affixed to metal frame. In pristine condition with proper signature. Signed "Steuben" to the underside.

There is a mark on the underside of the stand as well. The large S is visible. The stand for this particular piece was made of vermeil which is plated with gold.

Was an American glass works manufacturing company best known for their iridescent and Modernist-styled clear glass pieces. The company was founded in 1903 by Thomas G. Hawks, a glass-cutting factory owner, and Frederick Carder, a renowned glassmaker, in Corning, NY. Carder created the process called Gold Aurene, which was first used by Tiffany & Cothough it is debated whether or not Steuben Glass created it firstto create an iridescent sheen using reactive chemicals. In 1933, the director of Steuben Glass, Arthur Houghton Jr.

Began a new era for the company by stopping production on and destroying products which were faulty or unpopular. Was ultimately responsible for the companys shift toward creating crystal objects like candlestick holders, bowls, and service pieces. Steuben Glass continues to operate today in Corning, NY. Height 2 , Length 4 1/2, Width 3. Ladybug is in great condition and described to the best of our ability. Stand is vermeil which is gold plated. Top of stand is in excellent condition which is what shows through the underside of the crystal glass.

The bottom of the stand does show signs of wear likely from moving across a surface over time. This has not effected the look of the crystal or the stand because you have to turn the stand upside down to see the wear. The original red leather box is included.

There is visible wear to the bottom of the leather box, which is shown in the pics. We have included the max amount of pics for total transparency.
