STEVENS & WILLIAMS ART GLASS FINGER BOWL & PLATE, CRANBERRY with GOLD THREADING
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous Stevens & Williams Art Glass cranberry glass finger bowl and under plate with gold glass threading, c. This lovely set has a beautiful translucent cranberry glass body with gold glass threading applied on exterior and an elegant ruffled outer edge. Both pieces have an unusual diamond quilted air-trapped pattern in the glass giving the appearance of a flower extending out from the center.
The coloration seems to glow like a sunset. The technique of applying a thin layer of contrasting glass as decoration on an item was originally created by Frederick Carder (of Steuben glass fame) when he worked at Stevens & Williams in England prior to coming to the U. The plate measures 8 in diameter. The bowl measures 2 3/4" high and 5 1/2" in diameter.
Both pieces of this set are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the body. Each piece has a couple of very small breaks in the exterior threading as is generally the case with this type glass. These minor flaws do not detract from the beauty of this set. I wish our photos did better justice to this gorgeous set. It seems our camera glare distorted the color in some of our photos. You will definitely not be disappointed with this unusual set.
